Companions Conceal Crash, Contaminate Coast

Paquin Mercury Reports
When Deebrane String's disabled ship crashed into the Keajra Sea, the Phoenix Acolyte was left in a coma for a week. Chief of Staff Fa-Le Yan jumped to the conclusion that the Orions were attacking and had kidnapped their High Priestess. Now, the High Priestess is making plans to handfast with the same Orion Ambassador Yan accused of kidnap. Yan seems to be looking for another story to cover up or distract attention from her hasty actions.

Recovery operations continue in the Keajra Sea. Reports of a giant custom-built salvage vessel, named by some sources as the Extromar Explorer, cannot be confirmed. Unnamed sources have revealed to this investigative reporter that the bulk of String's ship has been recovered. Flight recorders may confirm that the attacker was not Orion, but a Romulan revenue cutter on legitimate anti-piracy patrol.

Resistance, Flight, Breach Of Arrest, And Escape
The Romulan cutters apparently hailed and asked String to heave-to. The Acolyte seems to have ignored the lawful order and fled. The cutter may have fired warning shots that were also ignored. Finally, the Romulan disabled String's ship but broke off pursuit as String entered Alliance-controlled space.

String admitted to knowing at the time the pursuers were Romulans. However, String refuses to discuss the reasons for being in Romulan-patroled space or for fleeing from the patrol. When given a chance to comment, Yan relied on her usual formulation, saying she can “neither confirm nor deny the presence of any activity” around String's ship. She added “I am unfamiliar with what Deebs might have said as she was coming out of the coma.”
