U-Day Celebration in Spinwheel

Paquin Mercury

SPINWHEEL CITY (CNS) -- His Honor, Mayor Tillery Woodhen, stood on the steps of Spinwheel City Hall next to a silent and unsmiling Chief of Police this morning to read a prepared statement.

"Thanks to the unmatched dedication of our police force, equipped with the latest in crowd control technology developed by Linden Laboratories, a subsidiary of Blue Sun specializing in law enforcement, the inhabitants of our Spinwheel City are safer this Unification Day than they have ever been before.

"No one -- not the Acolytes, Companions, and Priestesses of the Guild, not the other citizens of the Alliance, not the gentlebeings of United Federation Starfleet, not our exotic neighbors from Extropia -- should hesitate to visit us and take part in our celebrations.

"I have instructed the Chief here to ensure that his force will not hesitate to bind by law and remove from the streets of our fair city any miscreants -- whatever the color of their coats.

"Paquin is a law-abiding member of the Union of Allied Planets and is proud to be the home of a group of men and women renowned for their skills in pleasant interco- -- er, conversation. We honor them and do our utmost to provide them with a tranquil home.

"Bless you all, and bless the Union of Allied Planets!"

------------ ((now the same message, OOC)) ------------
((Welcome to the Companions’ Guild Unification Day party! We want to take a moment to explain the ground rules for this event. They are likely different than some of the other Unification events and scenarios out there.))

((Unification Day on Paquin is a chance to wave flags and eat too much barbecue, not create brown-on-purple conflict. Many Firefly-related regions support combat and killing. Dakini Land supports seduction and dalliance. Intrigue and the arts of covertcy can be practiced here; but violence is not permitted.))

((In roleplaying terms, Paquin is a post-Serenity border planet. The Miranda affair has been exposed, and the Alliance has been shown up, has apologised. and treats border planets that quietly manage their political balance (such as Paquin) with a light hand.))

((The Companion's Guild will be entertaining guests from some of our non-Firefly friends and neighbors, such as Extropia, United Federation Starfleet, Ankh-Morpork, Callahan's Bar, and non-roleplaying Second Life at large. Many of them do not play at violence, and such attacks will damage their calm. That's no way to treat one's guests.))

((Here's how it is. This event is a peaceful party. Any violence, regardless of "justification" or “mutual consent”, will be ignored in roleplay, and will result in immediate ejection from the region.))
